Captain Levi Torkelson was a 2001 graduate of the Air Force Academy.  He was a four-year Gymnastics letterman winning numerous awards.  He passed away on December 27th, 2008 at the age of 29.  At the time of his death, Levi was serving as the assistant coach for the US Air Force Academy Falcons gymnastics team.

During his short life, Levi faithfully served his country from Ramstein Air Base Germany, Jacobabad, Pakistan and two tours in Iraq.  For his service, he was awarded the distinguished high honor of the bronze star and the USAFE Arthur S. Fleming award as well as the Company Grade Officer of the year award two times.

Levi was a thoughtful, happy and highly accomplished person who deeply touched the lives of many.  He is greatly missed and will always be remembered.  His family has set up a memorial scholarship fund in Levi’s name, to honor his memory.  The San Antonio Invitational gymnastics meet honors that memory and contributes to the scholarship fund.
